Dr. Nadine Metro is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Social Work. She earned a Master of Education degree in Counseling from Boston University. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Widener University, with specialties in School Psychology and Neuropsychology, including a neuropsychology internship at the Brain-Behavior Lab at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Metro has worked extensively with adults in mental health and substance abuse settings doing individual and group therapy. Her interest is in working with adults going through life transitions, including the transition into adulthood, parenthood and retirement and she has a special interest in women’s issues. Dr. Metro is also interested in working with and supporting parents of children (and adult children) with disabilities, including developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance abuse problems as well as supporting caretakers of parents or a spouse with a disabling condition, such as dementia.
Regarding assessment, Dr. Metro has over 25 years of experience assessing children and adolescents. She has many years of experience evaluating children with attentional and learning problems, with expertise in assessing dyslexia. She has presented on dyslexia and topics related to the brain basis of learning disorders, ADHD, traumatic brain injury and neurodevelopmental disorders locally and at a statewide level.
Dr. Metro also conducts neuropsychological assessments of children (beginning at age 6), adolescents and young adults who have complex learning problems, mental health concerns and neurological issues. She has consulted with schools and offers second opinion evaluations to parents and school districts related to complex issues that might impact their child at school.
